Today Runyon and Highland students head over for their visit- welcome incoming 6th graders! We've got 4 clubs meeting today: Cursive, Art, Homework and XC, and we've got our 8th grade A/B volleyball teams playing their semifinal games today- good luck, Pumas!  Please remember that we do not have school tomorrow (Friday, April 27th) or Monday, April 30th.  Enjoy the long weekend!

We have a fairly quiet Wednesday here- with no after school activities scheduled here at Powell we have no late run bus.  We do have an after school event taking place at Newton, with our 8th grade C volleyball team heading to Newton for their semifinals- good luck, Pumas!

This Tuesday morning we welcome our incoming friends from Franklin and Sandburg for a visit.  This afternoon, we welcome students needing to catch up on work to stay for Homework Club and Jazz Band members are welcome (and expected!) to stay for rehearsal.  8th Grade Volleyball also hosts Options today.  Have a terrific Tuesday, friends!

TGIF! We're especially thankful for this Friday, as it's the second night of our play, Cases of Mistaken Identity. Once again, showtime is at 7 pm and while admission is free, bring money for snacks at intermission.  Have fun this Friday!

Hooray for Thursday, and hooray for our incoming students from Hopkins and Lenski, who will be visiting us this morning! This afternoon we have 8th grade volleyball practice, Art Club and Homework Club.  And lights, camera, action! It's opening night here at Powell for our spring play, with showtime at 7 pm.  See you here!

Welcome to late start Wednesday! After the slightly abbreviated school day we have the following athletics and activities: 8th grade volleyball practice, Cross Country (XC) Club, Magic the Gathering Club, and the final play rehearsal of the season!  Final rehearsal must mean it's showtime, and it almost is!  Powell's first play in almost 30 years takes place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 7-9:30.  Free admission and free fun!

It's Twain Tuesday here at Powell, as we welcome our incoming Twain 6th graders for a visit this morning.  This afternoon, Euclid welcomes our 8th grade girls volleyball teams for games and the following clubs meet: Homework, Powell Players and Jazz Band.

What a miraculously calm Monday we have today- no testing, regular schedule, and only a handful of activities after school- our 7th grade girls volleyball team wrapping up their season with a game here against Goddard, play rehearsing, and Cross Country (XC) Club starting. Happy Monday!

It's Friday the 13th- eek!  Nothing scary about the schedule today though, as we don't have any assessments taking place so we follow a regular Friday schedule.  Have a fabulous Friday, Pumas!

We wrap up CMAS testing today (hooray!) with our 8th graders taking their last Science test, and 6th/7th graders finishing up their iReady tests.  After our morning tests, students follow a schedule of blocks 4-1.  After school, our 8th grade girls volleyball teams welcome Euclid, and the following clubs meet: Art, Homework, Cursive, and Play Rehearsal. Go Pumas (and go Avs!).

It's a late start Wednesday, and it's another day free of testing, meaning we'll be following a normal Wednesday schedule, followed by fun afternoon activities: 8th grade volleyball practice, Magic the Gathering Club, MathCounts and Play Rehearsal.

Hey, Happy Tuesday! Testing resumes this morning, with our 6th and 7th graders taking their iReady tests, and our 8th graders taking the Science portion of the CMAS test.  After a test-filled Tuesday our 8th grade volleyball team heads to Newton, while our 7th grade volleyball team practices here.  Also here: Homework Club, Jazz Band and Play Rehearsal.  Happy Tuesday!

After a week of testing we start this week off with a little break- we have a regular old Monday here, following our regular Monday schedule.  After school, our 7th grade girls volleyball team welcomes Newton, Builders Club meets and the Powell Players rehearse.

Today is Thursday, April 5th, and we're in the thick of our CMAS testing today, with tests taking place both first thing this morning and at the end of the day.  After testing, and a couple of classes thrown in there, we have 8th grade volleyball practice, Art Club and Cursive Club.  Have a great day!

Wednesday, April 4th, 2018

Today is Wednesday, April 4th, a late start here and our second day of CMAS testing.  Again, please make every effort to have your students to school on time, ready to test, and avoid appointments or early dismissals during our testing weeks.  Thank you!  After school, 7th grade volleyball practices, Magic the Gathering club gathers, play rehearsal happens and our monthly PAC meeting takes place at 3 pm: today, PAC welcomes LPS Superintendent Brian Ewert, parents and guardians are welcome and encouraged to attend and hear Mr. Ewert's presentation on his vision for LPS.  Later this evening we welcome incoming 6th graders who are interested in playing an instrument here at Powell next year for our Music Screening night, from 6-7.
